What this drink actually is
The drink people search for under this name is a sweet, fizzy, brightly coloured coconut-lime cooler from drive-thru menus, not a cocktail. What follows is an independent home interpretation with spirits added: no company recipe, no licence, no endorsement.
What each pour is doing
- Vodka, 1.5 oz — a neutral base, invisible behind the fruit.
- Blue curacao, 0.5 oz — colour and a dry orange edge at around 20% ABV. Past half an ounce it turns medicinal.
- Coconut rum, 0.5 oz — the note that makes the glass taste like a beach rather than a limeade.
- Pineapple juice, 2 oz — body, sweetness and the tropical middle.
- Lime juice, 0.5 oz — the brake; without it the pineapple and soda turn syrupy.
- Sprite or lemonade, 1 oz — lift and fizz, added last so it survives.
The colour problem
Blue curacao meeting a yellow juice makes green, which is not the look anyone wants. Build the spirits and the pineapple first, add the soda, then float the blue curacao on top so it streaks through the ice. Stir it in the glass just before drinking.
Technique
Shake everything except the soda with ice for 10 to 12 seconds, then strain into a tall glass packed with crushed ice. Top with cold soda, add the blue curacao and finish with a lime wheel. Chill the soda overnight: a warm pour loses its gas at once.
Strength and calories
Six ounces of liquid carry about 0.8 oz of pure alcohol: near 13% before shaking, close to 10% in the glass over crushed ice. Budget 220 to 240 kcal, mostly juice and soda sugar.
Mistakes
- Shaking the soda. Every shake costs carbonation.
- Doubling the blue curacao for a deeper blue. Orange medicine, every time.
- Warm pineapple juice. Over ice it tastes tinny.
- Dropping the lime. The drink collapses into syrup.
Two variations
- Frozen version — blend everything with two cups of ice until slushy.
- White rum version — white rum instead of coconut rum, plus 0.5 oz of cream of coconut.
7 Brew Ocean Breeze FAQ
Why did my drink turn green?
Because the blue curacao mixed with the yellow pineapple juice. Use less pineapple, or float the blue on top at the end.
Is this the recipe the chain uses?
No. The original is alcohol-free and its formula is not published; this is a home build from the flavours people describe.
