Place a sugar cube in a rocks glass and saturate with bitters.
Add a splash of water and muddle until dissolved.
Add the whiskey and a large ice cube.
Stir gently 20-30 times to chill and dilute.
Express an orange peel over the glass, run it around the rim, and add as garnish.
Add a quality maraschino cherry.
