Espresso Martini

The cocktail that wakes you up and pleasantly slows you down. Freshly pulled espresso, vodka, and coffee liqueur shaken to silky perfection.

01 Ingredients

Vodka 1.5 oz
Coffee Liqueur (Kahlúa) 0.75 oz
Fresh Espresso 1 shot (hot)
Simple Syrup 0.5 oz
Coffee beans 3 (garnish)

02 Method

01

Pull a fresh espresso shot and let it cool for 2 minutes — hot espresso creates more foam.

02

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.

03

Add vodka, coffee liqueur, espresso, and simple syrup.

04

Shake hard for 20-25 seconds — the vigorous shake creates the signature crema foam.

05

Double strain into a chilled coupe glass.

06

Garnish with 3 coffee beans arranged in the center.

The Espresso Martini: From London Bar to Global Phenomenon

Created by bartending legend Dick Bradsell at Soho Brasserie in London, 1983. A model reportedly asked for something that would “wake me up and then f*** me up.”

The Foam Secret

The iconic foam topping comes from two things: freshly brewed hot espresso and aggressive shaking. Never use cold brew — it won’t foam properly.

Bean Garnish Meaning

The three coffee beans are a nod to the Sambuca tradition, representing health, happiness, and wealth.
