Orange peel 1 (garnish)
Ice large cube

02 Method

01

Add gin, sweet vermouth, and Campari to a mixing glass filled with ice.

03

Strain into a rocks glass over a large ice cube.

04

Express an orange peel over the drink, run it around the rim, and place as garnish.

The Negroni: Italy’s Contribution to Cocktail Culture

Count Camillo Negroni supposedly invented this drink in Florence in 1919 when he asked his bartender to strengthen his Americano by replacing soda water with gin.

The Equal Parts Rule

The Negroni’s beauty is its simplicity: equal parts of everything. Don’t be tempted to adjust — trust the ratio.

Stirred, Never Shaken

A Negroni should always be stirred. Shaking introduces tiny air bubbles that dilute the drink too quickly and cloud its beautiful amber clarity.
